I had a thought and that was, what are everyone at DNS's philosophies on things?
I guess I'll start by saying. My view on sanity is as follows: Sanity is a delusion perpetuated by the masses to make them believe there is nothing wrong with them.

Oh the flame-war potential this thread has... That said, normal people scare me... ;;

Hehe. Nah, it's a fine thread as long as people don't freak out and try to kill each other via caps lock. ^^

I doubt that would happen, as far as I can tell everyone at DNS is really friendly.

Heh. Champ, you and my psychiatrist would disagree. Apparently, I'm anti-social with certain psychopathic tendencies.

Well, I have quite a few flaws in my current outlook of things, but it's all fun for right now. Pipe, you may be anti-social in the eyes of the current generation, but just sit back and think for a moment, we're real people, talking about things that interest us. The only thing that seperates us is distance. Is this being anti-social? If it is, I want to know how.

Rover (is that okay to call you that?), it's not the computer friends my psych's referring to, but rather, other things, like my deeply instilled hatred of certain people. It takes me a while to decide to hate someone, but I can't really be talked out of it at all. That concerns him. I love talking to people on the internet! There are some wonderful people out there, amidst all the "text-speek" morons, and I love talking to them. So many interesting people with interesting ideas.

(It's quite alright to call me anything you'd like. Just not love.) *takes a deep breath* I hate how fast reality goes sometimes. I'm a slow person when it comes to people, and as such, I tend to make snap decisions because well, I know that reality isnt going to wait for me to figure things out. However, I do love to take my sweet time on things. But one thing I do know, and cherish, is that everythings changing, and the internet is no longer a barren place, devoid of the human touch. It's full of people, chatting, posting, getting to know each other. Some dont understand how it's the same as talking on a phone, or writing a letter. Some don't want to beleive that it might be a new form of human interaction. ...but I'm getting ahead of myself. Besides, what am I to say, without a avatar to look at?

This is why I'm usually in a fantasy world, the real world holds no interest to me. That's the main reason I lover Role Playing Games they're a chance to be something your not and nobody will look at you funny for it.

Sadly, one can't survive in the fantasy world. In order to maintain life, one must be successful (at least to a point) in the real world. That's what kills me. Left to my own devices, I can happily spend my days. In order to be allowed to do that, I have to deal with the real world, though.

My view on perception and reality is a bit... unusual. When it comes down to it, in reality, there is only one truth. What you believe is the truth can vary, but what is the truth doesn't. Perception is a funny thing though. Magician's make it clear that the way we perceive things can easily be deceived. There are things we "know" exist, but can't see. Even knowing this, we still claim things we perceive as facts.
Now, for our perception of reality to be flawed and yet as consistent as it is, it would take an extremely complex series of other flaws that would counterbalance the first, and more to counterbalance those, and so on and so forth. We could never have just one or two minor flaws. So it would seem something like that would be unlikely, but there's more then one way our perception could be flawed yet functional.
With only one truth, but a nearly, if not, infinite number of possible flawed perceptions, which one seems more likely?
I hope I described that well enough. Usually I come off as trying to sound really deep, but failing miserably. Just my thoughts on Perception and Reality.
