um, yes, I did just watch the first three again, and I am generally very critical - we also watched most of the documentary following, and the director for empire apparently told ford to do 'what felt right' for the character, because the 'love you too' sounded so lame... unfortunately, my brain holds famous people's names like a sieve holds sand, so i don't remember who that director was...
anyway, totally agree with both poofies and snipes on all points.
also, WAY too much CGI in places that didn't need it, especially in 1 and 2 - by they time they got to 3 they knew what they were doing a little better.
now, i will admit, i started watching star wars when i was really little (and so often that apparently i could recite the whole intro bit from memory before i knew how to read for all of the movies...), so there may still be some level of prejudice involved... maybe my kids will watch them all and love them all... who knows...

We will always like the first 3 the best cuz they were the first.^^ Just like Matrix 1. Sequels can never do as well as the originals because the novelty is gone. (even I for one loved the rest of the matrix movies ). I'm prolly not as disgusted with the new SW movies partially because I never saw the originals all the way through when I was little. I have a very short attention span.>_< Totally agree about the CGI though. Everything is so squishy and stretchy. I really love how Yoda's ears bob like his original puppet design though. XD

I am sooooo not a Star Wars fan. I just was never impressed with George Lucas' storytelling. He just never did anything that really made me sit up and take note.
I will politely disagree with you on the Matrix, though, snipes. I thought the second one was much better. *does happy dance of glee thinking about an infinite number of Hugo Weaving*

It's not really my opinion that the 2nd Matrix movie wasn't as good as the first, I'm just parroting my college buddies. Though I will say, the rave scene was overdone.

Can I be really stupid and ask what you mean by "the rave scene?"

Matrix Reloaded, when the humans are partying in their city, and getting all frisky.^^ Pretty amusing scene.

Ah yes. Really not my thing. That's usually a get-up-and-get-another-beer point for me. I'm also not a fan of "intimacy" in movies. For me, it's enough to know it happened. I don't need to see the act. That's one of my weird quirks, though.
My fav sequence in Reloaded is the battle scene with the bazillion Agent Smiths. The whole chase sequence with the twins was neat, too.

ooooor it could be because it seemed like he knew where he wanted to start and he chose to start like an epic in the middle and then tried to put the beginning on and it looked like crap because he mashed too much into three movies.
although the special affects on the light saber duels were fun to watch. ;D
