redcrow: Yay! Wn is a totally dope scifi comic!^^
Character consistency is the hardest thing about comics, IMO. Besides action poses.>_< The only advice I can give is fill your sketchbooks with drawings of the same character over and over, then pick out a handfull of drawings you feel successfully captures the character. Scan those, put em together on one page on the computer, print it out, and tape it somewhere where you'll have to look at it when you're drawing.^^

Currently I'm still working on the lessons from this Manga instruction book. I do have two characters I want to develop: one being Manga and the other being Furry.

Yeah, I've actually been meaning to do that, but first I need a freakin' basic design that actually WORKS! But yeah, once I've got that, I think I may do an actual full-on model sheet with proportions and reminders and all that jazz. But the design itself--*Kills the previous designs* It sucks.

It's the same thing when writing them. Write a bunch of samples of their dialog and then pick the ones that "sound" the most like the character and keep them around to refer to. Sometimes you just can't get a character's voice right until you remind yourself how they sound.
Also, when writing dialect (a dangerous thing in and of itself) make rules so the words are not overwhelmed by the dialect. For example, a character never says an ending "g" sound, so everything sound like "Nothin'" or "Goin'" or "runnin'".

Yeah, sometimes it's hard to keep your characters from sounding alike. It's hard to keep their conversations with eachother alive and dynamic, too. And sometimes they just don't cooperate and refuse to move out of the freakin' great hall no matter how hard you push them! (Mine did this to me a couple days ago. I felt like a babysitter. >.>)
Yeah, I don't use dialect very often because I don't really feel the need to. The most I've done is make the character who's currently five say "gonna" and "wanna". XD
It's weird, though. I've got most of the characters personalities ready to go, but I can't draw some of them! I can't draw my male lead, I can't draw the middle-aged doctor...I don't even want to think about drawing Frank. >.< But my girls have gelled instantly. 'Tis odd.

I have the same problem with characters - I wonder if it's a gender thing (like guys have trouble drawing girls maybe?).
Anyway, I feel it is my duty to point out that this conversation has gone off-topic a smidge, and perhaps a thread in "general" on the difficulties of drawing and character creation ought to be created so that this can stay as a discussion of WN?
That said: starting topic in General

Yeah, that was kind of off topic. ^^; Sorry, I was making matters worse in that department.

XD Wasteland? *Finds that exceedingly funny for some reason; the reason is probably lack of sleep combined with NaNo obsession*
NaNoWriMo ate my soul.

Lohaun has no pupils in the third panel. @_@ It looks really cool, but confuses me nontheless. I mean, you ALWAYS have pupils.
*Sees Wren's tail going out the door and gets a sudden urge. Tries very hard to resist that urge, but then gives in and PULLS ON THE TAIL*
*Slapped*

*lol* No one can resist the tail.^^ The pupil thing is a stylistic choice of mine. If you go back through my comic, you will find many more instances where the pupils are not there. Look at Wren in page 8 there, his pupils are no more defined than Lo's in page 10. I simply like doing it that way. And I won't change!!! (sorry if I sound testy, but I get one person on Devart in particular who hounds me about my pupiless eyes. Even when I go out of my way to put them in!*grumble*)

Why is it I only start to see the vast flaws in my pages after I've posted them? *sigh*

Oh, you're right about the pupils. *cringes* I am sooo unobservant. And yes, I figured that you probably did it on purpose; it's just...I was too lazy or something to notice the lack of pupils before. ^^;
And yes, Sushi's right.
NO REGRETS, MORE PAGES! \o/
