haha, yeah - the trick was once I remembered the expression that went with the quote I totally knew where it was from. Dante was irritated, of course, which I'm sure was the point... Here's the first quote that popped into my head... "... some call me... Tim...?" (this should be easy )

Ok, this is an eighties movie, and one of the main characters is played by Val Kilmer.

Lol! Ok, I give. Y'all are too young for that reference. The quote was from "Real Genius" a very funny movie. You should check it out. ;D
Ok, new quote: "A wizard is never late. He arrives precisely when he means to."

who you callin young? anyway, that's from The Lord of the Rings trilogy- specifically, I'm pretty sure it's from the Two Towers (at the very least, I know it was in reference to his showing up at Helm's Deep on time), and it's said by Gandalf the White (as opposed to Gandalf the Grey) in reference to himself. here's a softball... "It won't cost much, just your VOICE!"

(Actually, it was Fellowship, when Gandalf arrives at the Shire for Bilbo's birthday) But anyway. Your quote is from the Little Mirmaid, by the witch Ursula.
"Are you calling me a liar?" "No, I'm calling you an optimist. Basically the same thing."

(augh, I knew I was going to place that wrong... ah well)
You have NO idea how frustrating this is. I JUST saw the thing with this in it, and I can't for the life of me remember what it is...
I hazard a guess at Star Trek Deep Space Nine, cause that's what I've been watching lately... maybe Quark? I dunno... am I on the right track?

*rofl* Oh man, I can't believe you missed that one, Sushi! XD Yes, you did just see what this was in, because I was showing it to you! No, it's not Deep Space Nine, and since you probably know what it is from now, let's say you tell us what characters are saying it. ;D

aha! must be Avatar then... but who says it?
Oooh, who says it? I'm guessing it's Toph, talking to Ang maybe? That is, Ang being the optimist and Toph calling him a liar... though I could see Saka doing the same thing...
