Actually, I think maybe that should go in its own thread; I'm sure that's going to have LOTS of responses. *Rushes off to rectify the deficit*
OH THE PAIN OF DUBS! *brain explodes* Someone brought up Yuki in Furuba earlier, and I meant to say this then, but yeah, he's way OOC in the dub. My friends and I joke that he sounds like a serial killer. XD

Perhaps also to consider, is how the languages of the anime sound in their foreign tongue. I love, personally speaking, the way a language can flow (Gaelic), or the harsh tones of a deep and guttural language (Russian), but in English, since it is my native language, there are voice types that love to hear, and those that i would find a gun to end the pain. To cite example of foreign animation that i cannot stand in English, Trigun. the English voice sounds like someone has him by the balls in a superman grip, while in the natural language, he carries the humor, but also in the more serious times, something like from house of the flying daggers, or crouching tiger hidden dragon.

That's true, there are cultural aspects to consider. Like the Chobits dub. Those high voices for the girls may sound natural in Japanese, but for gods' sake, don't mimic them in English! It makes them sound stupid as hell, and therefore makes them annoying as hell. >.< (Don't get me started on the OTHER mistake in that series' dub, involving mixing the English and Japanese voices for Chi.)

OH OH OH if you want horrible voice acting go find yourself the original version of Resident Evil i Don't mean the remake for the game cube that they managed to fix a lot of it even though the dialog still sucks.
but in addition you get to see a cheesy like $100 budget video with live actors at the beginning of it(might only be on the PC version) if you have doubts as to it go to game FAQs and there are countless people who mock Barry's horrible duologue and voice acting.
also if you really wanted to watch Anmie you'd learn Japanese or at least watch it with subtitles for example the Datte Bayo site hosts a good portion of the Narruto episodes and the newer Naruto Shippuden episodes for download with subtitles.

I dunno, we all cry and moan about the poor voice acting in anime, but I think the voice acting in video games are far worse. Take Lost Odyssey of example, This is one of my favorite games, it has nice game-play, great story line and awesome graphics, but the voice acting is so awful I want to cringe sometimes. Not to mention that Lost Odyssey's acting is not sub par when you compare it to other games. The entire video gaming industry lacks proper voice acting skills in my opinion.
