Hey, I thought I should join up just to properly express my affection for White Noise! I've been reading for about a year now, and it's only getting better. I adore that Wren is so very normal despite his abnormal background and situation. (And he's also snarky, which guarantees love.)
I'm co-creator of a young webcomic myself, so I'm beginning to understand just how much feedback helps- ergo, I thought I should feed the artist. You have no idea how much I respect you for doing full-color pages all the time! And credible action scenes!
As for the messy little personal details. . . well, I'm a recent B.Sci graduate doing the job-search routine in middle of nowhere New England, and a classic anime/manga geek to go with my sci-fi/fantasy bibliophile credentials. I also do like Avatar, even if I'm a steadfast non-shipper.

Hey Windlion! Welcome to DoomNstuff! I really have to ask though, snarky?? 0_0 When I hear the word snarky I think sarcastic and petty, and that is certainly not what I'm going for with Wren's character. >_< He's sposed to be a sweet little cuddle-bunny! But anyway. So do you have a link to your comic? And and Avatar fan, excellent! We can always use more of those here.^^

Thanks for the welcome! I tend to think of snarky as in just. . . sarcastic and witty quips, not petty. Things like the "I hear the beginning's a good place to start" remark and the like. XD That is possibly a personal corruption of the meaning. I wouldn't worry, though- Wren does indeed come across as sweet! You can find our webcomic over at www.odins-children.com. It's not particularly pretty, especially by comparison, but we're getting better ever so slowly~ (It's really noticeable because the pages going up are half a year old. Gah!) As for Avatar, I'm really looking forward to seeing what they do with the third season. Zuko is my favorite character, so I'm waiting to see how they redeem him!

Ooh, nice! I like the use of tones, you've got good depth going on. And don't worry about progression, once you start noticing your art getting better, it goes faster and faster, until you literally see yourself improving every day.^^ Where do you get your zip tones? Or do you make them? Alright, I'm glad Wren isn't coming off as bitchy.^^ Cuz I know that worms its way into my characters sometimes (and it has nothing to do with myself being bitchy! Not at all! *cough*). Ah, Zuko. He's so great.^^ Best fictional character I've come across in a long time. Though he really took a serious dive last season, I am very curious to see how they will redeem him too. *still mourning zutara* The creators say they're trying their best to make season three the best season yet, so I'm really excited, knowing how high they set their standards.^^ I hope they go back to the way they were animating in season one. The style of faces was a little different in season two.>_>

Welcome, Windlion!
Wow, you've got a webcomic up and running. I'm gearing up to take the same plunge in May this year. I had a vague sense of the work that would go into the comic pages themselves, but it's the website that's currently kicking my ass! ^^; Do you mind if I ask you what program you (or your webdesigner) used on your page? It's partially because GoLive is driving me postal.

Thank you for the feedback! We do make an effort to actually have backgrounds, though it can be tempting to skimp. (My co-artist and I are envious of your consistent backgrounds and perspective. That takes work!) As for tones, I tend to let my co-artist do those, as I've had /issues/ trying to learn to use them. We don't make them, but we've found them at a number of sites. (I think you can find most of them here: psychobob.xepher.net/screentonez/ ) XD You're not the only one who has trouble with their characters having their creators' traits . . . leaking over, if you will. Sometimes the apple just doesn't fall far from the tree. Avatar- we'll just have to wait and see!

And a second reply just to keep things neat- Thanks also for the welcome, Poofiemus! (And how does one shorten that? XD)
Good luck with your webcomic! Kudos on taking the time to really get it together before you go live. Having a backstock of pages and a site all set up beforehand is really important, in my opinion.
As for the webdesign. . . that was pretty much 20% my partner in crime on photoshop getting the images all the right size and background colors, 80% me in notepad, resurrecting what I remembered of basic html and hitting up a few on-line tutorials for tables. There was an awful lot of save- open in browser to view - revise- save- check, etc. . . . And the traditional "Oh crap, this looks awful in IE! FIX!" setbacks. If you want easy to update and clean looking sites without going through CSS/java/whatnot, tables are a good way to go. (And jpegs for the titles and all, as png and gif files have dubious success rates in multiple browsers.) /end rant

welcome windlion! I call Poofiemus poofies a smidge enough shorter to be more type-able . wow, so many webcomic creators gathering! awesome . Notepad/tables are the way to go for nice, clean webpages . Well, not that I've done much with anything else, but hey, it works! and coding is all about the level of control anyway .

Yeah, my friend across the hall just ranted at me today about how she can't stand working in GoLive and/or Dreamweaver because she's become such a control freak from hand coding. (I second the opinion of GoLive, because that program sucks, but I haven't messed with Dreamweaver enough to compare yet.)
Poofies and Poofie are acceptable nicknames, and, sadly, I'll respond to those in real life faster than my given name. ^^;
I don't think I'll have time to get a backlog of pages. ^^; I'm devoting my time to the webpage now, since that seems to be the hardest part of setup.
